Tribal Code Drafting

2:15PM - 3:15PM | OCT. 30 | Session 9

The University of Washington School of Law Native American Law Center (UW NALC) is currently building a code drafting clinic to support participating Tribes in the development of effective codes of law within their jurisdictions. Additionally, NALC staff are preparing a Tribal attorney’s code drafting deskbook as a professional resource and reference guide for in-house Tribal attorneys. Contributors to these efforts from NALC will review the canons of statutory interpretation, the rudiments of code drafting, and best practices for code drafting in the distinct context of Tribal law in this engaging panel.
