Meghan Bishop
Meghan Bishop (Sugpiat/Native Village of Afognak) is currently a Policy Specialist in the Department of the Interior’s Office of the Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs. In that role, she provides policy guidance on ICWA, social services, the Tiwahe Initiative, MMIP prevention, and youth suicide prevention. Prior to her role at DOI, Ms. Bishop practiced indigent defense in Oregon in both State and Tribal courts. She represented parents and children in dependency and delinquency matters and became a leading expert in the State on child welfare legal practice. Ms. Bishop obtained her JD from Willamette University of College of Law and her MPS in Political Management from George Washington University. In her personal time, she enjoys gardening, spending time with friends, and most of all, being an Auntie to two fiercely strong Sugpiat children.
