Jody Cummings

Jody serves as the General Counsel to the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation (MPTN). In this role, he leads the Nation’s Office of Legal Counsel and Department of Public Affairs, which handles all legal and government affairs issues for MPTN and its various business enterprises, including Foxwoods Resort Casino. Jody was formerly in private practice in Washington, DC, representing tribes, intertribal organizations, and entities doing business in Indian Country on a range of federal Indian law and federal permitting issues. During the Obama Administration, Jody served as Senior Counselor to the Solicitor and Deputy Solicitor – Indian Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Interior. Jody received his B.A. from Duke University and his J.D. from Columbia University. He is an enrolled member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina.
