Part 2: Leasing and Right-of-Way Needs for Tribal Energy Development

PANEL 2B

Oct 17, 2024

2:15PM-3:45 PM

CLE Credits Pending

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act) and the Inflation Reduction Act opened unprecedented opportunities for tTribal participation in energy development. However, federal leasing and right-of-way requirements can present unique obstacles for tTribes seeking to enter or expand their presence in the energy industry. This panel will explore approaches tTribes can use under current statutes and regulations to unlock the full economic potential of their land and to make effective use of federal funding for energy development. The panel will also discuss opportunities for tTribal energy advocacy in Congress and with relevant federal departments, including advocacy related to pending leasing and right-of-way legislation such as S. 1322, the Unlocking Native Lands and Opportunities for Commerce and Key Economic Developments Act of 2023 (UNLOCKED).
